ruhige distale Sedimentationsgeschehen immer wieder kurzfristig stören.
Jahren (Oberes Ludlow-Pridoli-Unteres Lochkov), in Abhängigkeit
Sedimentationsraum in Richtung Beckenzentrum verlagert. Entsprechend verringern
The predominantly micritic, pale grey limestones consist of the three major
mineralogical components calcite (x = 82 % ), quartz (x = 9 % ) and muscovite/illite
(x = 3 % ). The remaining part of about 6 % is distributed among the subordinated
minerals dolomite, albite, chlorite and pyrite. The limestone microfacies of the borehole
Klonk-1 are characterized by a fine lamination with scarce fossil content. The mainly
uniform type of lamination, the rare appearence of benthic organisms, the small
grainsize ( < 63 µm) and also the absence of cross-bedding structures indicate a relatively
distal, hemipelagic, sedimentary environment beneath the storm wave base. The
appearance of short bursts of biodetritic debris mainly in the middle and the upper part
of the core interrupt the hemipelagic sedimentation. These mostly cm-thick bioclastic
layers with erosive bases consist of crinoidal fragments, shells of orthoconic nautiloids as
well as fragments of bivalves- and/or brachiopod-shells. Therefore everything indicates
that we are dealing with debris f1ows or slides, resedimented as regional limited events
in a low angle slope area.
The investigated palaeoredox-indicators Th/U (x = 1,19), C/S (x =1,23 %) and Ce/Ce*
(x = -0,083) display for the lower Silurian part of the limestone beds in the core anoxic to
suboxic conditions. In contrast, the upper Devonian part displays an increase of the
oxygen-content in the bottom water zone. The higher oxygen content during the
Lochkovian stage is related to biodetritic debris f1ows as a result of the increased energy
levels.
The average content of organic matter (OM) determined for all limestone samples is
0,4 %. The thermal maturity is about 0,7 % Rr. The average quality of OM is near 93
mg HC/g TOC. The direct comparison between the amount and the quality of OM
indicates that not the type but the amount and thus the bioproductivity and the
preservation of organic carbon has varied over time (depth).
It was tried by multiproxy-analysis of the collected chemostratigraphic parameter to
describe the history of the cored time-interval of approx. 8-10 m.y. (Upper Ludlovian-
Pridolian-Lower Lochkovian) in addition to interpretating eustatic sea-leves changes.
Beginning with the chronostratigraphic stage of the Ludlovian there was a regression of
sea-level characterized by increase of terrigeneous input, decrease of authochthonous
carbonate fraction and an increase of the amount of OM. The maximum of the
regression was reached approx. in the middle of the Pridolian stage. This was followed
by a transgression which shifted the sedimentary environment in the direction of the
basin centre. Accordingly, the amount of terrigeneous matter as well as the amount and
the quality of OM decreased and the amount of the carbonate fraction increased.
A relative sea-level highstand was reached in the lower part of the Lochkovian stage.
After that a comparatively short regression started again followed by a short
transgressive event of similar magnitude.

Petrographische und geochemische Charakterisierung der Karbonatbänke aus der Forschungsbohrung Klonk-1 (Suchomasty/Tschechische Republik)
168 S., 2000
The subject of this study is a detailed characterisation of the limestone beds from the
Silurian/Devonian boundary interval at the stratotype profile Klonk (Suchomasty
/Czech Republic). For that purpose the Klonk-1 borehole was drilled to about 57 m
depth near the outcrop. Based on a detailed core description altogether 141 limestone
beds were sampled and analyzed for petrographical and geochemical proxies.
