The present study is concerned with the comprehensive and detailed analysis of processes involved in the dynamics of primary production. This work is facilitated by exceptional database on extraordinarily long-term sampled limnological records from the eutrophic Haltern lowland dam reservor /Germany (WESTPHAL 1988 [Wes88]).
Several distinct conclusions can be drawn on the interactions between inorganic nutrients and primary production:

• As well chlorophyll fluorescence as the pH-value and concentrations of the inorganic nutritients P, Fe, N, Si reveal distinct annual cycles (coefficient of determination r² ~ 0.4) with a (statistically) proof calendrical sequence in time.
• The abundance of

  -H⁺,
  -total phosphorus (Tp ),
  -soluble reactive phosphorus ( S_RP) ,
  -soluble iron (Fe) and
  -silicea (Si)
